Programme Information

[Biology and Chemistry major will be offered in 2026/27]
This cross-sectoral co-terminal double degree programme aims to prepare students to teach science (including Biology and Chemistry) in primary and secondary schools, as well as pursue careers as environment-related professionals. The programme provides a wide range of learning experiences for students to develop scientific literacy, understand the relationship among science, technology, society and the environment, and contribute to science education and sustainable development in the 21st century. Students in the programme will conduct teaching practices in primary and secondary schools, and internships in environment-related organisations. Students can declare their major (Biology or Chemistry) in their year 1 of studies.

Programme Aims

This co-terminal double degree programme [BSc(IEM)&BEd(SCI)] aims to prepare you to teach science in primary and secondary schools, including Biology and Chemistry. It also opens doors to careers in environmental fields.

Entrance Requirements

HKDSE students should have: 
• Level 3 or above in English Language and Chinese Language; and 
• Level 2 or above in Mathematics (Compulsory Part); and 
• "Attained" in Citizenship and Social Development; and 
• Level 3 or above in one of the following elective subjects: Biology / Chemistry / Physics; and 
• Level 2 or above in any one elective subject. 
 

For non-local students: 
• an IELTS overall band of 6.0 (academic); or 
• Grade C / Grade 4 or above in IGCSE / GCSE / GCE O-level English; or 
• a TOEFL score of 80 (internet-based test); or 
• other equivalent qualifications deemed acceptable by the University.

Health Service

Located on the first floor of the Administration Building, the Health Centre provides medical and dental services for all students. It also organises health education programmes in the form of seminars, talks, games and exhibitions on a regular basis.
